Personal injury claims in North Las Vegas
North Las Vegas is Nevada's third-largest city, with an estimated 296,653 residents as of July 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It has its own police department, justice court, and animal protection services. Injury claims there follow statewide Nevada law, but the report, the agency, and the evidence are local.
Most injury claims in North Las Vegas start with a vehicle: a car crash on a city arterial, a pedestrian struck near an intersection, or a collision with a commercial truck on I-15. Others start with a fall at a store or apartment complex, or a dog that got loose in a neighborhood. Each has its own page on this site, linked below. This page covers what is specific to North Las Vegas: where crashes concentrate, which agency writes the report, which court hears the case, and how far the office is.
Where North Las Vegas crashes happen
North Las Vegas Police crash data reported in February 2026 puts Craig Road at the top of the city's list, with the Losee Road and Craig Road intersection recording 104 crashes in a year. Cheyenne Avenue, Lake Mead Boulevard, Martin Luther King Boulevard, and North 5th Street also appear at the city's highest-crash intersections.
| Intersection | Crashes recorded (Jan 2025 to Jan 2026) | | --- | --- | | Losee Rd and E Craig Rd | 104 | | W Craig Rd and N Martin Luther King Blvd | 73 | | E Cheyenne Ave and Civic Center Dr | 62 | | W Cheyenne Ave and Martin Luther King Blvd | 53 | | E Lake Mead Blvd and Civic Center Dr | 47 | | N 5th St and E Craig Rd | 32 |
These figures come from North Las Vegas Police data as reported by News 3 Las Vegas. They count reported crashes, not injuries or fault, and they say nothing about any particular case.
- Craig Road. Described in that reporting as the most crash-impacted corridor in North Las Vegas. The Nevada Department of Transportation ran a pedestrian safety project covering 11 intersections along Craig Road between Decatur Boulevard and North 5th Street, which shows how long pedestrian risk on this road has been recognized.
- Cheyenne Avenue and Lake Mead Boulevard. Both show up frequently in the city's crash data, especially at Civic Center Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
- I-15. The interstate runs through North Las Vegas toward the Apex Industrial Park, an 18,000-acre industrial area about 20 minutes north of Las Vegas with large distribution centers. That means heavy truck traffic. If a commercial truck was involved in your crash, the truck accident page explains the federal record-retention clocks that apply to carriers.
- Other major roads. Ann Road, Decatur Boulevard, Las Vegas Boulevard North, the northern 215 beltway, and US-95 also carry heavy traffic through and around the city.
Who investigates a North Las Vegas crash and how to get the report
North Las Vegas Police handle crashes on city streets and keep the city's crash data. Freeway crashes, such as those on I-15, are typically investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol. You request the report from whichever agency responded, using the report number you were given at the scene.
North Las Vegas Police Department. The city's police records page links to LexisNexis BuyCrash, where accident reports are purchased online. The Records Division also accepts mail requests that include identification, a notarized letter, and the case number. The city notes that personal checks are not accepted.
Nevada Highway Patrol. For a crash on I-15 or another freeway, troopers write the report, and it is ordered from CRASHDOCS.org. Have three things ready: the report number that starts with "NHP," one driver's last name, and the date. NHP charges $10 and posts most reports within one to two weeks. Its request page explains how fatal-crash reports and scene photos are ordered separately.
Not every injury produces a police report. After a fall at a business or apartment complex, the record is usually an incident report from the property, and the slip and fall page explains how to preserve it. After a dog attack, the record is a report to North Las Vegas Animal Protection Services; see the dog bite page.
Which court hears a North Las Vegas injury case
The dollar amount decides the court. North Las Vegas Justice Court, on Martin Luther King Boulevard, takes civil claims of $15,000 or less and small claims of $10,000 or less. A claim worth more, which describes most cases with real medical treatment, goes to Clark County's Eighth Judicial District Court in downtown Las Vegas.
- North Las Vegas Justice Court, 2428 N. Martin L. King Blvd., Building A. Its civil limit comes from NRS 4.370 ($15,000, including personal-injury damages) and its small-claims limit from NRS 73.010 ($10,000). A minor fender-bender with modest medical bills may fit here.
- Eighth Judicial District Court, at the Regional Justice Center on Lewis Avenue in Las Vegas. Every civil claim above $15,000 starts there with a complaint.
Most North Las Vegas injury claims never reach either courthouse. They are presented to the at-fault party's insurer with the records and bills, and a complaint is filed only when negotiation stalls or the two-year deadline gets close. Venue can also turn on where the parties live, which is checked at the start.
Nevada law that applies to every North Las Vegas claim
City limits do not change the law. A North Las Vegas claim runs on the same Nevada statutes as one in Summerlin: a two-year window to sue for most injuries, a shared-fault rule that cuts or ends recovery depending on your percentage, and auto insurance minimums that are often too low for a serious injury.
Deadline. For most injury suits, NRS 11.190(4)(e) allows two years. A city vehicle, a city bus, or a defect in a city road can bring separate rules into play, so mention any government involvement on the first call.
Shared fault. Under NRS 41.141, intersection crashes at places like Craig Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard often produce competing stories about the signal and the turn. Photos of the signals, lane markings, and damage points help answer an insurer that tries to raise your percentage.
Coverage. A Nevada driver only has to carry $25,000 per injured person and $50,000 per crash in bodily-injury liability under NRS 485.3091. When that is not enough, your own uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is the next place to look, if you bought it; Nevada insurers must offer it (NRS 687B.145(2)). The understanding insurance page explains those terms.
Injury cases from North Las Vegas the firm reviews
Clark Law Group's practice pages explain the evidence and insurance questions for each type of claim. Start with the one that matches what happened:
- Car accidents: fault, coverage limits, and the first adjuster call.
- Truck accidents: commercial carriers on I-15 and around the industrial areas.
- Pedestrian accidents: crosswalks, signals, and disputed fault on wide arterials.
- Motorcycle accidents: rider bias and injury documentation.
- Uber and Lyft accidents: which insurance applies depends on the app phase.
- Slip and fall: notice of the hazard and preserving property video.
- Dog bites: leash rules and the owner's knowledge.
- Wrongful death: who may bring a claim when a crash or other negligence causes a death.
- Personal injury: if your situation is not listed.
What to do next after an injury in North Las Vegas
- Safety and a report number. Dial 911 for injuries. Before leaving, find out whether NLVPD or the Highway Patrol took the report, and keep the number.
- A doctor's visit, even if you feel fine. Pain from whiplash, concussion, or back injuries often builds over the next day or two, and a delay invites the insurer to blame something else.
- Pictures. Vehicles, the signal heads, the hazard that caused a fall, the dog's gate, and your injuries over the following weeks.
- The other side's details. Names, phone numbers, insurance company, policy number, and anyone who saw it happen.
- Cameras. Gas stations and shopping centers along Craig Road and Cheyenne Avenue often record the street. Note them quickly.
- The official record. Order the NLVPD report through BuyCrash, or the NHP report through CRASHDOCS.org.
- Advice before any recorded call. Reach Clark Law Group at 702-330-3272 on a weekday, or ask for a callback.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get a crash report from North Las Vegas Police?
North Las Vegas Police accident reports are purchased online through LexisNexis BuyCrash, linked from the city's police records page. The Records Division also takes mail requests with identification and the case number. If the Nevada Highway Patrol handled a freeway crash, request that report through CRASHDOCS.org for $10, usually 7 to 14 days after the crash.
Which court hears a North Las Vegas injury lawsuit?
It depends mostly on the amount claimed. North Las Vegas Justice Court on Martin Luther King Boulevard hears civil cases up to $15,000 and small claims up to $10,000. Larger injury claims are filed in the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County's district court in downtown Las Vegas. Most serious injury claims fall in the district court.
Do I need a lawyer based in North Las Vegas?
No. Nevada lawyers can handle claims anywhere in the state, and North Las Vegas cases go to Clark County courts that Las Vegas lawyers use every day. Clark Law Group's office at 2320 Potosi St in Las Vegas is about 8 miles from North Las Vegas City Hall by I-15. The consultation is free and can start by phone.
How long do I have to file a personal injury lawsuit in North Las Vegas?
Many Nevada injury lawsuits must be filed within two years of the injury under NRS 11.190(4)(e). Some claims, such as those against a government agency, can have different rules. Intersection and business video along corridors like Craig Road can be overwritten much sooner, so evidence should be requested early. Call (702) 330-3272 if you are unsure.
What if I was partly at fault for the crash or injury?
Nevada uses modified comparative negligence under NRS 41.141. If your share of fault is not greater than the other side's, you can still recover, and the award is reduced by your percentage. If you are found more than 50% responsible, recovery is barred. Insurers often raise this in intersection and left-turn crashes.
Do I pay an attorney fee if there is no recovery?
On personal-injury matters, including North Las Vegas car accident and injury claims, Clark Law Group states that consultations are free and you do not pay an attorney fee if there is no recovery. Fee terms for a specific matter are explained before you hire counsel. Contacting the firm does not create an attorney-client relationship.
